JOGUE RESIDENCE
Montreal, Canada.
Project status: Under construction
The Jogue house is typical to Montreal’s architecture: A rowhouse , where adjacent buildings share a common wall. The attempt with our proposal was to break the common layout often found in most of the city’s row houses. The house is divided in half, offering the future owners a multi-use home . The front of the house consists of 3 bedrooms , + 3 bathrooms, roof courtyard and basement. The back of the house consists of 1 bed , 1 bath and basement. A family can occupy the front while using the back portion as a guest house. The back can be leased as a stand alone unit providing the owners with side income and contributing to the city's need for more housing.

PROPOSED SECOND FLOOR

The design of this townhouse beautifully blends tradition and modernity, creating a visual contrast that harmonizes with its surroundings. The front facade showcases a timeless use of dark red brick, selected to pay homage to the materials popular in the neighborhood. What sets this townhouse apart is the creative manipulation of brick orientations on the front facade. The brickwork isn't uniform with a deliberate play of textures , giving the exterior a distinctive and dynamic appearance. It's a subtle yet elegant touch to the architecture within the neighborhood, making the house both a part of the community and a standout piece of design.
In contrast, the back facade reflects the client's desire for a more contemporary design. Here, the traditional red brick is replace with metal panels but with the same deep, rich red hue. This change in materials and style adds a refreshing contrast to the townhouse while maintaining a cohesive color palette. Overall, this townhouse, respects the neighborhood's architectural heritage while adding a sense of individuality and modernity.
