GATINEAU APARTMENTS

Gatineau, Quenec.
Project status: permit stage
Nestled within the heart of Gatineau, positioned between two culturally and historically significant streets, Promenade du Partage and Rue Laurie, the project grapples with the delicate balance of modern and traditional architecture within the area. The city of Gatineau is enthusiastic about welcoming new and modern architecture.
The initial step in designing the facade involved creating a basic grid structure based on the placement of rooms and balconies. Subsequently, the asymmetrical balconies were arranged in an alternating, checkerboard-like pattern, introducing an element of asymmetry and playfulness. Finally, the stacked balconies were interconnected using sunscreens, resulting in a facade treatment that not only boasts visual appeal but also pays homage to the layout of the apartments, rooms, and the overall building design.
